  Alarm System Monitoring

An alarm system monitoring company observes and monitors the security of its clients. If there is a breach in the security system, the monitoring company notifies the local law enforcement agency through the company monitoring system. In some cases like fire and carbon monoxide poisoning, the alarm system monitoring company will notify the nearest fire department or medical facility.

Some of the alarm system monitoring companies employ emergency situation specialist or security specialist in order to determine what sort of action needs to be done on a particular situation. Some monitoring companies have monitors and speaker systems installed on their clients home or establishment for more effective communication with their clients within the premises of the emergency situation. Finer Homes like in Marin County California use alarm systems to protect their most important assett. For example if the security alarm systems detects fire, the security system will then activate an audible alarm in the house or building and then sends an alarm to the alarm system monitoring company stating the emergency. The situation specialist will then contact the occupants of the building or house through the speaker system to notify them of the situation. The situation specialist will then contact the nearest fire department. In case of burglary, the security specialist will advise the burglar to stop and discontinue the burglars intention as the local police has been notified. However, almost all of the procedures for each emergency situation are automated, all the specialist has to do is to monitor the situation. More

> How a Car Alarm System Works!

Summary: Car alarms have integrated the latest technology into the car alarm system. So, how does it work?

Car alarm is an everyday occurrence; you just get to see it everyday. When an approximate of one car gets car-napped every 20 seconds, it is common occurrence indeed. Car alarms, in an effort to get ahead of car burglars, have integrated the latest affordable technology into the car alarm system. So, how does it work?

The first documented case of car theft was as early as 1896, only a decade after the Otto gasoline powered automobile was patented by Karl Benz of Germany. To combat this situation, car alarm systems are installed on automobile doors. So the first ever car alarm system was typically a car door alarm. But with todays cars, its much more sophisticated. Car alarm systems have sensors that go off every time a panel is opened; the panels can be the doors, the hood or the trunk. These sensors are actually voltage that travels around the vehicle including doors, trunk and hood. If this circuit is broken by forced opening of a panel or a voltage dropped due to interference with the electrical system, the alarm goes off.

Car windows are also one focal entry point for thieves. Most occasions they just bust the windows and hot rod the car; quite effective, too. New glass technology made it possible for glasses to withstand an amount of bashing. Glass reinforced with plastic is commonly use. One common window sensor is a breaking sound detector. The sound of breaking glass has its unique sound frequency that the system detects, and if triggered releases a full alarm siren.

Another car alarm feature is the shock sensor. The early models are two horizontal charged rods of metal which if the car is disturbed, will sway and touch each other completing the circuit and setting the car to alarm. There are difficulties with this though. Every time the car is disturbed, the alarm goes off no matter the cause. Slight disturbances like a slight weight shift from an individual leaning on the hood can cause full car alarm. Recent models are released, like Randall Woods shock sensor which, by its construction, is more false-alarm proof.

So concisely most modern car alarm systems include a range of pressure sensors that are electrical conduits all around the chassis that goes off when the circuit is severed. By opening a door or a trunk, the electricity is severed and full alarm goes off. Car glasses are made more resistant to bashing. Also, the system includes a glass-breaking detector that goes off to the frequency of breaking glass.

Since 1896, car thievery was second to none most rampant thievery cases every year. Getaway vehicle, easy to break in, always in demand, and with a little bit of repainting can attract any interested buyer. But with the present state of the art technology, car alarm systems can stay up ahead with thievery.
What you need to know about Fire Alarm Systems

Summary: The cheapest is at $22, cheaper than your jeans. You wont be forgiven if fire breaks out because you forgo a $22 fire alarm system.

What is worse than burglary and theft in your property? The only candidate would be fire. If burglary happens on your property, at most all your valuables would be stolen. Cases of fire will not only decimate your valuables, your property will be razed. That is the most horrific nightmare of households.

True enough, property owners (households and offices) invests more in fire security and prevention than in thievery, even banks and holdings of valuables. Why, because fire is now also an element that burglars and thieves use as an accompaniment for their sting. Of course, burglary is still an important factor.

In effect, most total security units now include burglary and fire alarm system. Such systems supervise doors, windows and large spaces that would require such devices, e.g. theft prone areas (entry areas) and high fire risk areas like the library and the living room, especially above the carpets. Some total security units also include a 24 hour monitoring service that charges monthly dues.

Due to their relatively high cost, these total alarm systems are only found on homes that clearly could afford such. Smaller conventional households will make do of a smoke detector and a tank of fire extinguisher. But dont be hasty to discredit smoke detectors. Though very cheap, they are very, very reliable and often would warn the earliest signs of fire.

So why pass up the prospect of protecting your homes. For only $22 you can make one room fully prepared to meet fire accidents. (Actually, it only goes off, you still have to manually operate the fire extinguisher). Of course these type of fire alarm systems goes hand in hand with a fire extinguisher, which is yet another essential. Why, most fires can be extinguished with water (or cushion or mat, as long as it smothers the fire) but some fires DO get bigger with water, in fact grease fires are really dangerous if applied with water. Thus, fire extinguisher should it be.

There are two types of smoke fire alarm systems, and each one has a design specific to the area. Ionization detectors are the cheapest (the one Ive mentioned) and the easiest to install, the easiest to maintain but is more likely to generate false alarms due to their sensitive nature. Ideally, ionization detectors are to be installed on rooms having volatile materials and photoelectric for rooms having heavy furniture that smolders before bursting into flames.

While most fire alarm systems is use today are smoke detectors, other models make use of heat and temperature to detect the presence of fire. In some cases like gasoline and alcohol burning, these fires produce little smoke which may not trigger the smoke detectors immediately. Accordingly, these types are to be used.

Fire is one serious household accident that may or may not come during your lifetime. Just because there where no such incident before doesnt mean your home is immune. The cheapest is $22.96 at www3.shopping.com, way cheaper than your Nike. You wont be forgiven if fire breaks out because you forgo a $22 fire alarm system.

> The History of ADT and ADT Alarm Systems

Summary: Youve heard about ADT as the forefront of security and monitoring technology but what you might not know is the humble origins of ADT as a Telegraph Messenger Service.

If youve heard about ADT as the forefront of security and monitoring technology for over 125 years, then you should know as well that their security systems are highly sophisticated, and that ADT offer unparalleled service and their superior ADT alarm systems are what you’ve come to expect.

But what you might not know is the humble origins of ADT as a Telegraph Messenger Service. So how would an ADT alarm system fit in the picture? Read on and follow the path the ADT alarm system took in history

Though the American District Telegraph (ADT) is formed through the affiliation of 57 district telegraph delivery companies in around 1874, it is with the advent of advanced Call Boxes and multi-signal electric protection system in the early 1890s that ADT became a preeminent security protection company. Before, ADT function much as their name implies, telegraph service. These call boxes (electric signal devices) allow interactive communication between customers and ADT. And as an outcrop of the business and to further the development of the call boxes innovation, ADT started providing security and protection services to a varied clientele. Therefore, you can safely assume that the parent of ADT alarm system would be the call boxes.

These multi-signal Call Boxes allowed watchmen at businesses to do more than just signal for police or fire department assistance, they also allow watchmen to send a specific signal to the ADT office, at designated times, to let the monitoring office know that all was well. And if a district office didn’t receive its scheduled signal, ADT protocol was always to assume something is amiss, and help was promptly dispatched.

It was in 1910 to 1930, under the leadership of AT&T that ADT began to really shed its telegraph messenger service roots to concentrate fully on signal, security and protection service. In a very short time, ADT became synonymous with emergency call systems. It was also this time when the respected line of ADT alarm systems went out of production.

When war broke out, the resulting domestic manpower shortage drove the demand for better ADT alarm systems that would not only detect problems, but signal an alarm automatically. In essence, a cry for an automated ADT alarm system was made. Because ADT provided a unique integration of systems and services, it was a logical step for the company to create these automatic systems. As a result, automated ADT alarm systems such ass the Teletherm automatic fire detections system, the Telewave automatic intrusion system surfaced.

The following decades ADT continued the technological breakthroughs of the century, introducing a whole slew ADT alarm systems such as the wireless Safewatch systems, including the Plus RF and the Custom RF models; the state-of-the-art integrated Focus system line, and a variety of access control and closed circuit television (CCTV) products.

If you want your security alarm system installed by an alarm system monitoring company, always make sure that the company that you have chosen is certified by independent agencies for quality and experience, and most of all, reliability Alarm system monitoring companies these days have various services offered. These services are: Medical Response Monitoring; Critical Conditioning Monitoring; Intrusion Alarm Monitoring; Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Monitoring; Elevator Telephone Monitoring; Auto Dialer; Hold-Up or Panic Alarm Monitoring; Open & Close Reporting; Open & Close Signal Tracking Supervision; Exception Reports; Duress Monitoring; and PIN or Passcode Management

> Home Security Alarm Systems

Summary: Home security alarm system includes burglar alarm, fire alarm and health safety alarm. Complete all these, and your homes will considerably be safer and your wallet lighter

No one compromises security, thats for sure. But now, danger have gone to such a level that padlocks, chains, fences and even doors and shuttered windows cant really afford a respite against such a looming threat. On another circumstance, medicine cabinets and emergency assistance numbers are not much help in case of emergency. Thats where home security alarm systems come into play.

The first home security alarm system is intended for burglars. But with todays technology, burglar alarms have come to such heights from the simplistic device of an open/close circuit and a solenoid gong. Today is about high precision and infrared monitoring devices such as cameras. Not only that, these cameras are so small that you can mount them anywhere and still they will evade notice. Conventional burglar alarms are still in play, motion detector and circuit alarms are still found in todays homes. The newest innovation is perhaps the alarm that stimulates the barking of a dog. This device also includes macros that would automatically turn on a light to simulate occupancy, a perfect home security alarm system if youre not at home.

Fire alarms also play an important factor for home security alarm systems. In fact some packages include both a burglar alarm and a fire alarm. In case you dont know, cases of fire are much more common occurrence than forced house entry, so protecting your homes from fires is a non debatable. Fire alarms have a number of types but the most common are smoke detectors. Smoke detectors have two types, ionization and photoelectric. Ionization detectors are cheaper and easier to install so if you cant afford to get the two types (which is much recommended), then try to get at least the ionization detector.

The next home security alarm system is for health safety. Sometimes a medicine cabinet loaded with all kinds of prescription drugs wont just do. Accidents happen in such a way that gets you unprepared. Personal alarm system cuts the risk of these situations considerably. By having a personal panic button transmitter in the form of a key fob, this handy emergency button can really get you help as you need it. So no mad dashing to the phone or the bedroom for your medication; a press of the button and the automatic dialer will make a call to the selected phone numbers issuing an emergency situation to your home.

There are also response teams that give out 24/7 monitoring service for a monthly bill. This is the best home security alarm system although it would cost also a considerable sum. The best home security alarm system works best if one does it for you, e.g. like a personal nurse/bodyguard. And whos the best qualified (except for the personal bodyguard/nurse/butler) than a team of medical personnel watching your routine and making sure you took medicine.

So let me recap. Home security alarm system includes burglar alarm, fire alarm and health safety alarm. Complete all these, and your homes will considerably be safer and your wallet lighter.

Getting a Home Alarm System

Summary: Home alarm systems are critical safety measures but it requires proper approach for it to work the way you want it to be

Home alarm systems are a bother. They cost so much, no guarantee they would always work, and quite a hassle to maintain. But when need arises, home alarm systems are critical safety measures. Its crucial to determine your security needs before you begin scouring the market for home alarm system.

Surveying the Home Alarm System coverage

Assess which area that you wish for the home alarm system to cover. The more the areas to cover the expensive it gets. Also, manually choose the routing of wires. The electrician can do it for you but it is your home. You might want to hide those wires or staple it along edges. Hard-wiring the system is a reliable option but the least reprogrammable or customizable. One option is the wireless technology.

Determine where the control panels should be. If you have a two storey house, you might want to have two control panels, one on your bedroom and one downstairs. Remember, the control panel commands the entire home alarm system. You might want it near where it will most likely turn off (most cases is the bedroom) and one downstairs if you are downstairs. Sometimes, a single control panel will do. A control panel overrides the Home Alarm System, so dont install it where it can most likely be tampered.

Factors to be considered

A monitored security system is also an option if you want your property to be monitored 24 hours a day. This central monitoring station ‘watches’ your home for an exclusive monthly fee, check out your local supplier if youre interested. Another less expensive alternative is a home alarm system with a dialer accessory that automatically connects to your phone lines and dials the pre-selected emergency numbers if the house’s security is breached. For fire alarm systems, this is always necessary.

Consider your familys lifestyle. Do some family members leave and arrive at the middle of the night? Or do you have a pet that could likely trigger the alarm? These factors should influence the set up of your home alarm system. Cats always pose a problem for triggering alarms on windows. Likewise, dogs could set off your motion detectors. If you have the budget, some high tech gadgetry can allow intelligent weight recognition. Otherwise, a clever wiring to hard to reach areas but that can still trigger the alarm system should be done.

A protected front door control panel is an option for late arriving family members. Make sure it is well protected though or it will be easily tampered with. Some systems also have alarms for tampering.

Home alarm systems are a great security addition, but it requires proper approach for it to work the way you want it to be. Always do a bit of research before you choose a specific system.

Dollar stores are very helpful when it comes to keeping down costs.

The most common places to buy inexpensive seeds are dollar stores, and possibly online.

ADT Alarm System

The ADT alarm system is one of the leaders in providing electronic home security systems and services in the United States. The ADT alarm system features state of the art, highly advanced and sophisticated security systems and services.
The ADT alarm system is composed of security system, surveillance system or electronic article surveillance (close circuit system), fire detection system, alarm system, gaseous extinguishing systems.
The ADT alarm system is the oldest and one of the largest electronic home security companies in the United States. The American District Telegraphy Company which was founded way back in 1874 is the forerunner of the present ADT alarm systems and service. The American District Telegraphy Company originally offered simple call boxes or telegraphs. At present, the ADT has become the top electronic security company that provides security protection of the top companies, financial institutions and millions of homes in the United States.
The ADT alarm system has four levels of safety measures against burglars. The first level is the yard sign. The yard sign serves as a warning to potential burglars. Most burglars are discouraged from committing burglary whenever the house or establishment is advertised with the alarm system. The second level in the ADT alarm system is the window decals. Window decals serve as a secondary warning in case if the burglar has not noticed the yard sign. The third level of the ADT alarm system is the alarm siren. A very loud alarm siren will be triggered if unauthorized entry is detected by the ADT alarm system inside the house or establishment. The last level of the ADT alarm system is the round the clock monitoring. The ADT alarm system monitors the house or establishment twenty-four hours a day and will alert or call the local law enforcement agency if the alarm is triggered.
The ADT alarm system is monitored by highly certified staff. The ADT staffs are trained to manage emergencies such as flood, fire, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The ADT Home Security has an extensive array of equipments available, depending on the request of its clients.
The main product of ADT Home Security is alarm monitoring services. ADT Home Security maintains a centralized monitoring base that collects electronic signals from the ADT alarm systems installed in the United States. If the security system is triggered, such as an unauthorized entry or intrusion, the security system then sends off a signal to the ADT monitoring station. A monitoring specialist then checks the data that is sent by the security system and the specialist then chooses what type of response the alarm signal requires. In some cases, the monitoring specialist will contact the residence or the owner of the establishment by the use of a telephone to further investigate and determine if the alarm is false or not. If the specialist determines that the situation is not a false alarm, the local police department is then contacted.

Antitheft Alarm Systems

Summary: So what is the best antitheft alarm system for you?

If youve watch the Mission Impossible movie series, you may have lost faith in antitheft alarm systems. Because however advance and complicated these systems are, those leather clad techno-geeks always manage to make short work with them. Thats how science fiction goes. But in reality, todays antitheft alarm systems bites hard. It may look cool on screen but truth its the machines that win.

Amid todays cutting edge technology antitheft alarm systems have gone from competent to supreme. With every possible implementations now imbedded, alarm systems are now capable for every situation that ultimately it falls to whether you need all the extras. Theres no mission impossible to defeat here. Not to mention the staggering price tag it eventually would have. True, when safety is at stake, you are more than ready to shell out more bread. Even then, you still dont want to pay for those loaded antitheft alarm systems with gizmos you wont even bother activating.

So what is the best antitheft alarm system for you? To classify, there are 4 basic antitheft alarm systems:

1st Simple alarms are mostly concocted alarms or self installed on windows and doors. They are the cheapest. Upon activation, they set off the alarm.

2nd Local alarms do more. When wires are tripped, they make full alarm blast; some have macros that allow other automation, like turning on lights. Depending on their nature, they can be cheap or expensive.

3rd Automated dialer systems may or may have sirens but what they generally do is dial the pre-selected numbers for help. Automatic dialers have panic buttons, which upon activation will proceed to dial for help.

4th Monitoring systems are 24/7 monitoring services. They cost monthly fees but they are most voted safe due to the continuous monitoring.

So what do you need? If your problems are casual trespassers and intruders, you could go for the first option though you still have to dial the emergency line if things go dire. Simple alarms are cheap. Some designs can be homebrewed (see The Fundamentals of a Burglar Alarm System). If you are mostly away from home, or robberies are a neighborhood problem, then the second or third option is needed. Some antitheft alarm systems are a combination of siren, dialer and automated light control, so be sure to look for one. Take note, these designs cost more since they naturally do more than the standard stuff. Still they are better protection than the standard alarm devices.

The ultimate protection is the monitoring services. They monitor homes 24/7. They are constantly in touch with emergency response teams; some even have their own response unit. Not only they monitor theft activities, they also include fire safety and (on some) personal health safety. For that reason, they can cost astronomical. This antitheft system is best suited for homes that are located in unpopulated areas and with lots of valuables.

Assuredly, the best antitheft alarm systems are out in the market already. It only a matter of choosing which is the best for your homes.

The Alarm System

Summary: A brief timeline of Alarm Systems

The need to protect properties had surface even at prehistoric ages. Cave people make use of alarms such as traps and springs to protect their property. When animal husbandry was learned by man, dogs and mutts are tethered near the valuables to function both as alarm and guard.

In the middle ages, early alarms systems were in forms of large gongs which are struck in case of disaster and emergency. In the outposts, bonfires atop a structure (usually a watch tower) are used to warn settlements of impeding invasions.

The first true alarm system surfaced in 1852 and Edwin Holmes was the inventor. A simplistic device, it was actually a solenoid gong which sounded when the trip wire was disturbed. The alarm system was nothing compared to todays technology but in the industrial revolution era, where great inventions also surfaced like the electrical power generation and early forms of telephones, this invention was warmly received. And the inventions complimented each other too, especially for alarm systems and electrical transmissions which were shortly integrated into the device.

Alarms systems during this century make extensive use of DC alarm circuits and relays. These forms of alarm systems are wound along window sills and around door jambs coupled with conductive lead foil and magnetic or mechanical switches laced with thin resilient wire. Invisible trip wires and wooden dowel alarm screen are also state of the art.

It was another century later when alarm systems took a lengthier stride into advancement, with the advent of IC, circuit wafers, and nanotechnology. Smaller units integrated with microwave and ultrasonic motion sensors with entrance and exit delays are the modern forms of alarm systems. Perimeter sensors and live video feed was already a mainstay to most designs. Bell rings (on doors) are also a new innovation for alarm systems. All these technologies are still being used in abundance even to these days.

Alarms also made a sudden turn to other areas. Like the Bell ring, alarm systems are now used monitor volcanoes and earthquakes. Unconventional alarm systems such as the atmospheric alarm for space vehicles used to supervise the oxygen content and thermal heat regulator in foundries and mines.

Today, alarm systems have advanced even further. The rapid and expanded use of the network and web revolutionized the alarm systems definitely, as alarm systems have gone intelligent. Now, they sort problems themselves, minimize false alarms by identifying triggers, measuring size, weight and environmental factors. Some even detect internal circuitry problems, ensuring these alarm systems are functioning properly.

In an attempt to stay ahead of dangers, alarm system manufacturers have always integrated latest technology into the latest alarm system design. Guaranteed as technology moves still further, alarm systems will also keep pace with the latest tirelessly. Oftentimes, its just a matter of speculation how far will these systems.

Types of Fire Alarm Systems

There are many types of fire alarm systems readily available on the market. All types of fire alarm systems have essential function in detecting and containing fires. Some types of fire alarm systems are interfaced with an auto dialer that will automatically notify the fire department and emergency rescue personnel in an event of fire.
Wired fire alarm systems are of three types. These are the conventional fire alarm system, addressable fire alarm system and the analogue addressable fire alarm system.
The conventional types of fire alarm systems are composed of a number of detectors and call points. These fire detectors and call points are all wired and connected to the fire alarm system control panel by zones. These zones help identify where the fire started or where the fire is located. An audible alarm system is also connected to the control panel which gives off an alarm (usually a very loud bell) in an event of fire
One of the other types of fire alarm systems is the addressable fire alarm system. These systems are very much the same with the conventional fire alarm system. However these systems can pinpoint the exact location of the fire, unlike the conventional system wherein the location of the fire is determined by zone. The control panel of this fire alarm system is programmed to provide specific information when a particular detector is activated. The sounders or audible alarms of these systems are similar to the conventional ones.
Analogue addressable fire alarm systems are more recognized as The Intelligent Fire Alarm type of system. There is also a number of types of analogue fire alarm system determined by operational procedure. Analogue fire alarm systems are more complex and consist of more components than the other types of fire alarm systems. This is to determine and avoid false fire alarms from occurring.
Some fire alarm systems have fire sprinkler systems, automatic detection system, evacuation system and environmental monitoring. The fire sprinkler system prevents the fire from burning out of control. Most of the time, the sprinkler system puts out the fire. The automatic detection system is composed of smoke and heat sensors which detects the fire. The evacuation system is composed of horn strobes, strobe units and manual pull stations. These are designed to set off audible and visual warnings. The environmental monitoring system is an alternative type of fire detection system. These systems use the standard fire devices and are wired and connected to environmental sensors.
Always consult the local fire prevention agency if you need advice on what type of fire alarm system you want to install in your home or establishment.

Dollar stores are very helpful when it comes to keeping down costs.

> The Fundamentals of a Burglar Alarm System

Summary: The most fundamental design of a burglar alarm system is just a simple electric circuit that sounds whenever a circuit is completed or broken. So fundamental that you can make one yourself.

Todays burglar alarm systems have gone a long way from being a simplistic device with a solenoid gong that Edwin Holmes has made in 1852. Todays burglar alarm system incorporates the internet and radio waves, making it really a difficult beat for burglars.

The most fundamental design of a burglar alarm system is just a simple electric circuit that sounds whenever a circuit is completed, or in some designs, broken. This action is called breaking the circuit, and other than your dog maybe the only alarm that guards your doors and windows. How do burglar alarm systems work?

In every electrical circuit, electricity flows on a completed path between two points of opposite charge, negative and positive or input and output. The circuit and the electricity is controlled by means of a switch, an on or off device where you can open or close, or reroute a part of the circuit.

So for example, in a standard circuit that consists of a power supply, a line, switch, bulb, and line back to power supply, every time the switch is turned on the bulb lights. Burglar alarm systems work that way: whenever the alarm is set on active, current passes through the doors and windows. Anyone attempting to open a door will educe the alarm.
One problem though with this design, to stop the alarm you only need to close back the door and the circuit in once again complete. Thats the function of the control box that accompanies most modern alarm system. This control box is connected to all system alarms. Once the alarm is triggered, this control box won’t cut it off until somebody manually cuts off the circuit. Subsequently, the control boxes are usually hidden and equipped with a lock so the burglar wont be able to find it.
Because this burglar alarm system is quite rudimentary, you can make one perfectly for your home. With proper knowledge of electricity you can homebrew the Break Circuit Burglar Alarm System (you may call it this way). For ideas relating to such circuits, study how refrigeration lighting comes to play.
Homebrew your Burglar Alarm System
Opening the refrigerator door emits a light. On some designs, the switch is embedded in such a way when you open the door the switch is released, completing the circuit and light goes on. Similarly, embed a press switch on a door frame. Work the circuit in such a way that the pressing will break the circuit and releasing will complete. Now attach the circuit to a buzzer.
Actually, you can imagine many uses with this circuit design. Why, try hooking it up on a disc player and invite your special someone over for dinner. Of course for the dramatic to take effect, you should let her open the door.

Home Alarm Systems

Installing home alarm systems is another means of protecting your possessions that you value and the people you love the most at home. Alarm systems are very much popular nowadays. Todays Alarm systems range from wired home alarm systems to wireless alarm systems, from do-it-yourself alarm systems to a more sophisticated and highly advanced alarm systems.
Home alarm systems prevent any burglar attempts in your home or fires. In most alarm systems (especially the more advanced ones), the control box of the system activates a loud noise (most of the time a siren), flashing lights and an auto dialer that automatically dials an emergency number (like 9-1-1). This alerts the owners or the occupant of the house and the police that an intruder or intruders have or has broken into the house or alerts the occupant or the fire department that the house is on fire. An auto dialer calls the police or fire department or an emergency number play then plays a recorded message which gives away the address of the house. Some auto dialer calls the security company that installed the alarm system and then the security company will then call the police or fire department or an emergency number and relay the information them. Some auto dialer even calls the cellular phone of the owner of the house if the owner is away on vacation or at work.
Some sophisticated home alarm systems have motion detectors and heat sensors that detect movement and body heat or heat changes inside and outside of the house. The motion sensors detect the opening of doors and windows or any movement inside of the house. If the motion sensors detect any movement inside the house or if the windows or doors are opened without disarming the system, the system will eventually trigger the alarm which usually is a loud noise and flashing lights.
Some home alarm systems have a close circuit cameras that observe the insides and outsides of the house. Close circuit cameras act as a visual surveillance system of the house. Close circuit cameras capture images of burglars or any individuals who are within its parameters.
For those who want to install home alarm systems in their house, always choose an effective home alarm system or if you want to employ experts or a security company to install an alarm system in your house, always make sure that that company can be trusted and delivers what they promise. Make sure that the installation does not involve third parties. Read and review the contract agreement carefully before signing and know what is included in the warranty and its period. Lastly, dont hesitate to ask questions, especially tough ones. After all its your home that you want to be protected.

Door Alarm System

Summary: The first ever alarm system was a straightforward device consisting only of a power, a solenoid gong to serve as the alarm and the trigger

The first ever alarm system was a burglar alarm. This door alarm system was a straightforward device; the circuit consists only of a power, a solenoid gong to serve as the alarm, the switch or the trigger. In an era where inventions and discoveries are taking place one after the other, the alarm system was surprisingly received warmly, even though major inventions such as the telephone did also take place.

Though Edwin Holmes door alarm system is somewhat primitive compared with todays technology, it is still surprisingly effective. The design flaws of the door alarm system make it a bit unreliable but if you are interested, read on as I detail how to put together your own door alarm system.

Note that this little DIY (do-it-yourself) exercise needs elementary electricity skill. You should know also the dangers of naked lines and electrical hazards. So without further ado

Choose a switch. The suitable one is a press switch. To help you illustrate, study the door switch of a refrigerator. When you open the door, the light goes on, right. The circuit we are going to make is exactly the same, except our resistor wont be a light bulb but instead a buzzer. So choose a press switch that completes the circuit when the button is released. If your not sure, ask the help of the proprietor of the hardware store.

Now choose a buzzer. The buzzer is purely your choice. It could be a standard BUZZ or a subtle Ding-Dong as long as it is loud enough to be heard for it to be useful.

Now, choose another switch. This switch is used in setting the device on. Because without it, your door will constantly alarm whenever somebody passes through the door.

Connect the circuit. Start first by choosing a spot for the buzzer. The best place for you to place the buzzer would be in the stairs area or the junction of two rooms (if its a one story house). Attach the trigger switch to the doorframe, basically just like the refrigerator device. In most cases you have to extract a piece of the wood to have a place for your switch. Close the circuit by attaching to a power supply. Remember to turn off the power before working. Attach first the wire to the alarm, then to the trigger switch then to the control on-off switch then lastly to the buzzer. Attach the circuit to the power lastly. Check the connection, if you have a tester its time to use it now. Check everything thoroughly before putting the power back on.

When activated the door alarm system will buzz every time the door is open. Now you see the flaw. It only takes the intruder to close the door for the alarm to silence. But still, in most cases. The alarm should jolt everyone to wakefulness.
Car Alarm Systems

Most victims of car theft never considered that it would happen to them. There is about one automobile stolen every twenty seconds in the United States alone. Even in todays technology, car theft is very rampant. That is why car alarm system manufacturers are always improving their technology and innovating in order to avoid car theft.
Car alarm systems are gadgets that are installed on cars to thwart or discourage theft of cars. Car alarm systems of the early years work by making a loud sound and only. As the years go by, car alarm systems work by disabling the ignition system of the car. Some car alarm systems send a radio signal to the owner thru a beeper. Some car alarms are set off by vibrations, touch, tilting of the car opening or closing of door contacts, small and rapid changes in the voltage of the battery or through infrared sensors and ultrasound sensors.
In some cities in the United States, car alarm sounds are ignored because most of these alarms are accidental. They are either caused by vibration, thunder, passing of a large truck or of individuals innocently touching the car. And most people in some cities in the United States ignore or do nothing when they hear the sound of a car alarm. Because of large portion of car alarms are false alarms or accidental, car alarm system manufacturers are no longer producing simple noise making car alarm systems. As a replacement for these noise making car alarm systems, car alarm manufacturers are now producing silent immobilizers. Immobilizers are electronic devices that are installed on a vehicle that prevents the engine from running if the vehicle is inserted with the wrong key. After the innovation of the immobilizers, sophisticated car alarm systems now feature vehicle tracking system that enables law enforcers to track stolen vehicles which is very much more effective than immobilizers. On the other hand, these advance features (immobilizers and vehicle tracking system) can not prevent theft of some articles or equipments inside the vehicle or vandalism of the automobile.
An ideal car alarm system must have the two above mentioned features and sensor that could detect vibrations and pressures of the car. Sensors like a shock sensors triggers the alarm when something or someone moves or hits the car. Some car alarm systems have loud alarms, concierge system, locking steering wheel system, cellular phone alarms that call the police, engine lock system and fuel lock system which prevents fuel from the engine.
Aside from car alarm systems, having a large and heavy gauged steering wheel lock is a good idea in preventing car theft because it will give the car thieves a hard and tiring fight just by removing it alone.

Simple flowers such as daisies can be grown to keep costs and maintenance down.

Driveway Alarm Systems

Installing driveway alarm systems on your driveway provides additional protection to your loved ones and your home. Knowing when somebody is approaching your home is essential in home security. Driveway alarm system gives you advance notification of wanted or unwanted company.
Driveway alarm systems are similar to automatic doorbells; it informs you of approaching guest. Driveway alarm systems work by sending a signal to its receiver whenever its infrared motion sensors or magnetic sensors or rubber air hose system (like the ones used by gas stations that detects vehicles driving over the hose) detect vehicles, people or large animals are on your driveway.
Driveway alarm systems have two basic components. The driveway alarm transmitter and the driveway alarm receiver. The driveway alarm transmitter is placed on the driveway to detect vehicles, persons, or large animals on the driveway. If a presence is detected on the driveway, it will send a signal to the driveway receiver, thus alerting the occupants of the house. Driveway alarm systems usually have microphones and speakers to communicate with the guest and the occupants. Or in a case like burglary, driveway alarm systems triggers a very loud sound, usually a prerecorded message that prevents the burglar from doing any bad intentions to the house.
Driveway alarm systems are easy to install. The sensors of the driveway alarm system can be installed almost anywhere. It can be installed beneath the eaves of your house, or on the yard, or on the surrounding area of your property hidden out of sight, or disguised as an intercom system on the gate of your driveway.
There are four types of driveway alarm systems. These are wireless driveway security systems, wired driveway security systems, driveway alarm systems with infrared motion sensors or passive infrared, and driveway alarm systems with vehicle sensing probes that use magnetic detectors.
Each type of driveway alarm systems has its own advantage and disadvantage. The wireless system is easy to install and inexpensive but its batteries and transmitters have limited range. In the wired system, outside maintenance is not required, but it is more expensive and difficult to install. Driveway alarm system uses infrared motion sensors and is very good in detecting cars and people; however it also detects large animals and is usually set off by birds and other environmental occurrence. Driveway security alarm system uses vehicle sensing probe or magnetic sensor and can only detect moving metals and not people walking.
Every driveway security alarm system has its own unique features. It is important to remember that homes that are not installed with security alarm systems are more prone to burglary. One way of prevention is by installing a security alarm system on your home.

Wireless Alarm System

Having a wireless alarm system installed in your home is one of the best ways in implementing home security. Wireless alarm system has two ways of transmitting its connection. It is either connected by radio frequency or infrared light rays. Wireless home alarm systems can either be monitored or unmonitored. Monitored wireless alarm systems transmit signals to a monitoring station of the security company as the alarm is triggered. More often these alarms are not audible. In unmonitored wireless alarm systems, a very loud alarm (more often a siren with flashing lights) is set off but does not notify any monitoring station.
The heart of wireless security alarm systems is the control panel, which is usually located on the basement or on a hidden panel. In wireless alarm systems, the doors and windows are installed with two magnetic switches. One magnetic switch is installed on the door frame or window frame and another is installed on the door or window so that if the switch is moved out of its position, an alarm is triggered.
On hallways and large rooms, motion sensors are installed. However some wireless security alarm systems use infrared sensors, motion detectors or temperature sensors. Infrared sensors and temperature sensors detect body heat, while motion detectors detect movements on the room or hallway. If any one of these sensors is triggered, a signal is then transmitted to the control panel which analyzes it to determine if the intrusion is unauthorized or not. Wireless security alarm systems use keypads to disarm or arm the system. These keypads are normally found near the main entrance.
Wireless security alarm systems have six advantages over wire security alarm systems. The first one is that wireless security systems are easy to install. You can install one yourself unlike the wired systems wherein proper installations of wires are needed. Second, you can install them anywhere since the usage of wire is not required. Third, wireless systems are flexible; unlike their wired counterparts, wherein you have to review the wiring plans before any altering of the system. Fourth, it has a cleaner look. In a wired system, you have wires running all over the house. Fifth, wireless security alarm systems are more difficult to tamper. Wired security systems can easily become un-operational if the wires are severed intentionally or not. Lastly, wireless security alarm systems are easy to maintain. Wire security systems are bulky, hence, requires more maintenance while in a wireless security system, the only thing you need to maintain is its power supply that usually are the batteries.
Always remember to check your batteries in order for your wireless security systems to be reliable.

Medical Alarm Systems

Emergency medical alarm systems are alarm systems used by patients who are recovering from surgery that can not move with ease, or individuals who are old, weak, in poor health, or individuals who have need of urgent medical attention to alert emergency medical personnel.
Most medical alarm systems use a wireless transmitter (usually a pendant) to trigger the medical alarm. When the medical alarm is set off, the transmitter then sends a signal to the alarm monitoring companys main control center or other medical emergency institution. Medical emergency personnel are then sent off to the location where the medical alarm system was triggered.
Emergency medical alarm systems have three essential components. These parts are: an emergency medical alarm button that is set in pendant of a bracelet or usually a necklace, an emergency medical alarm console to call for assistance, and an emergency medical alert service that monitors and acts in response to the request for assistance.
Emergency Medical Alarm Systems originated and were developed during the early seventies in Germany by Wilhelm Horman. Wilhelm Horman aim in developing broad organizations for ambulatory and non-ambulatory care for the old, ailing, those who live unaccompanied and disabled individuals. Wilhelm Hormans idea of medical alarm systems were seen as somewhat extensive which includes the transmission of the medical data and social communication. Emergency medical alarm systems are not limited for individual who are old. The technical execution was accomplished with the aid of AEG Telefunken Backnang GmbH. The emergency medical alarm systems were then introduced to the world in the early eighties.
Emergency medical alarm systems were then added with an assortment of accessories like smoke detectors, motion detectors and fall sensors. A flood of gadgets that can be linked over analog or digital ISDN connections are very much available these days.
In some circumstances like for example, if an individual that emergency medical alarm system falls or is all of a sudden develop bad health, that individual can trigger a call for assistance simply by pressing the button that is on the pendant or on the wrist (in case of a bracelet type medical alarm system) without the need of a telephone. The emergency medical alarm systems are programmed to configure calls or connections so that it will terminate any calls in progress and then initiate a call for emergency assistance. The alert is then sent to the monitoring companys main control center or the systems operator which is either a public emergency rescue service agency or a private security company. The medical data of that individual is then displayed so that the emergency response team will then know the address, medical condition and medical history of the individual.
For millions of people who are suffering from various illnesses, medical alarm systems are indeed a very important device in their everyday life.
