Antitheft Alarm Systems
Summary: So what is the best antitheft alarm system for you?
If youve watch the Mission Impossible movie series, you may have lost faith in antitheft alarm systems. Because however advance and complicated these systems are, those leather clad techno-geeks always manage to make short work with them. Thats how science fiction goes. But in reality, todays antitheft alarm systems bites hard. It may look cool on screen but truth its the machines that win.
Amid todays cutting edge technology antitheft alarm systems have gone from competent to supreme. With every possible implementations now imbedded, alarm systems are now capable for every situation that ultimately it falls to whether you need all the extras. Theres no mission impossible to defeat here. Not to mention the staggering price tag it eventually would have. True, when safety is at stake, you are more than ready to shell out more bread. Even then, you still dont want to pay for those loaded antitheft alarm systems with gizmos you wont even bother activating.
So what is the best antitheft alarm system for you? To classify, there are 4 basic antitheft alarm systems:
1st Simple alarms are mostly concocted alarms or self installed on windows and doors. They are the cheapest. Upon activation, they set off the alarm.
2nd Local alarms do more. When wires are tripped, they make full alarm blast; some have macros that allow other automation, like turning on lights. Depending on their nature, they can be cheap or expensive.
3rd Automated dialer systems may or may have sirens but what they generally do is dial the pre-selected numbers for help. Automatic dialers have panic buttons, which upon activation will proceed to dial for help.
4th Monitoring systems are 24/7 monitoring services. They cost monthly fees but they are most voted safe due to the continuous monitoring.
So what do you need? If your problems are casual trespassers and intruders, you could go for the first option though you still have to dial the emergency line if things go dire. Simple alarms are cheap. Some designs can be homebrewed (see The Fundamentals of a Burglar Alarm System). If you are mostly away from home, or robberies are a neighborhood problem, then the second or third option is needed. Some antitheft alarm systems are a combination of siren, dialer and automated light control, so be sure to look for one. Take note, these designs cost more since they naturally do more than the standard stuff. Still they are better protection than the standard alarm devices.
The ultimate protection is the monitoring services. They monitor homes 24/7. They are constantly in touch with emergency response teams; some even have their own response unit. Not only they monitor theft activities, they also include fire safety and (on some) personal health safety. For that reason, they can cost astronomical. This antitheft system is best suited for homes that are located in unpopulated areas and with lots of valuables.
Assuredly, the best antitheft alarm systems are out in the market already. It only a matter of choosing which is the best for your homes.

> Antitheft Alarm Systems
Antitheft alarm systems were once found only on establishments and homes of rich and famous people. However, antitheft alarm systems are now commonly found on the homes of average Joes in the United States. Ranging from simple do it yourself antitheft alarm systems to state of the art sophisticated antitheft alarm systems, from wired alarm systems to wireless alarm systems, antitheft alarm systems provides protection against thieves.
There are two kinds of antitheft alarm systems. These are open circuit antitheft alarm systems and closed circuit antitheft alarm systems. In open circuit anti-theft alarm systems, the alarms are triggered when its circuit is closed (the opening of a window or door will complete the circuit). While in closed circuit anti-theft alarm systems, the alarm is set off when the circuit is opened or broken, the exact opposite of open-circuit anti-theft alarm systems.
Some anti-theft alarm systems have video cameras and motion sensors. Surveillance cameras monitor the perimeter and record events of burglary. Surveillance cameras must be placed on strategic and inconspicuous locations. Some surveillance system record images when the motion sensor detects movements on a particular room or hallway. Motion sensors detect any movement that occurs inside the establishment or house. The sensitivity level of motion sensors can be adjusted so that the anti-theft alarm will not be set off accidentally by animals around the house. Motion sensors are ideal for large areas like hallways and large rooms. Some anti-theft alarm systems have magnetic sensors on windows and doors so that if the windows and doors are opened by burglars, an alarm will be set off.
Some anti-theft alarm systems are monitored by security companies on a monitoring station. These monitoring stations are manned by security specialist. In an event when the anti-theft alarm is triggered, these security specialists will then determine if the alarm is false or not. If the alarm is not false then the specialist will then notify the local law enforcement agency and the owner of the house or establishment.
The four mostly used types of anti-theft systems are the single premise alarm systems, local alarm systems, telephone dialer systems and monitored security systems. The single premise alarm systems protect specific things in the same way as door alarms. The local alarm systems will trigger an audible alarm in case of unauthorized entry and they are not monitored by a security company. The telephone dialer is a type of security system that will automatically dial an emergency number like the police or fire department if the alarm is triggered. The monitored security system is the most effective and reliable of all systems because it is monitored round the clock by a monitoring station.
So if you want to have your property and loved ones protected, have your home and business installed with a antitheft alarm system.
Fire Alarm Systems
Many people are hurt, lost their possessions and die because of fire. Although fire can easily be prevented it is one of the leading causes of injury at home in the United States. In some cases where individuals die of fire, it is because they were not aware that their house or the building that they are on is on fire.
Fire alarm systems warn people of a potential fire. It warns the occupant while the still have time to either put out the fire or evacuate to safety. Most of todays fire alarm systems automatically call or notify the nearest fire department so that the fire will not spread out of control.
Fire alarms are either set off manually or by heat detectors or smoke detectors. Fire alarms are most of the time set to detect levels of heat or smoke which usually is an indication of fire. And some fire alarm systems have blinking or flashing lights for those who have hearing impairment. With todays technology, fire alarm systems can now be integrated with the home security alarm system for the utmost protection and safeguard of your home.
Smoke detectors is part of the fire alarm system, it detects smoke in the air and sets off an alarm thus alerting those nearby for a possible fire. Most smoke detectors detect smoke nowadays either by ionization or optical detection and some smoke detectors have carbon monoxide detectors that detect carbon monoxide by which also prevents carbon monoxide poisoning. The optical detector in smoke detectors is a light sensor which uses a beam like laser. These beam sensors then sends a laser like beam to other sensors, if smoke is non-existent, the laser like beam passes through the optical chamber of the light sensor in a straight line. If smoke is present, the laser like beam is scattered by the smoke particles as it enters the light sensor and the scattered light then triggers the alarm of the smoke alarm.
Ionization detectors are much cheaper than light detectors, although these types of smoke detectors are discouraged from being used because of environmental reasons. Ionization detectors work by detecting particles of smoke by a small amount of radioactive americium-241 (that is why it is discouraged from being used). This radiation of this material passes through an ionization chamber. This chamber permits the steady flow of current of electrodes, so that when smoke particles enter this chamber it interrupts the flow thus setting the alarm off.
Some fire alarm systems have sprinkler system that will contain or put off the fire before it becomes uncontrollable. However the only way to prevent fire is to take steps to be careful and take additional preventive measures.
Infrared Alarm System
Infrared alarm system is the most sophisticated of all security alarm systems. It detects motions or movements of an infrared producing source, which is usually the human body. All things (be it living or not) emit infrared radiation. Infrared radiation can not be seen by the human eyes but can be perceived through electronic devices designed for detecting infrared radiation.
In an infrared alarm system, infrared detecting devices are placed strategically and inconspicuously on a room or hallway. These devices send out infrared beams through the room or hallway. The infrared beams are sent out in layers. The upper most of these layers goes about over sixty feet straight and goes thirty-five feet sideways. The center layer of the infrared beams spreads in the room midway while the lower most layers sweeps the area near the detector.
Each of these infrared detecting devices calculates the infrared temperature of area the beam lands on. If there is a sudden change of temperature the infrared alarm system will then analyze the change in temperature if it is enough to trigger an alarm. For example if you walk in front of a painting (your body temperature differs from the painting), the infrared alarm system will then detect a violation of the temperature and then will eventually set off an alarm.
Infrared alarm systems do not trigger an alarm if the room warms up and cools down slowly. Infrared alarm systems have a built in microchip that enables the infrared alarm system to adjust itself for slow and regular temperature variations, so that the infrared alarm system will not be set off by a change of climate.
The sensors of the infrared alarm systems cannot detect thru walls and windows because it will only calculate the infrared temperature on the first thing or object the beam lands. Most of these infrared detecting sensors are small and inconspicuous.
The only setback with infrared alarm system is that this system is very expensive. A single infrared sensor device can not protect the whole house. You will need lots of infrared sensors to protect the whole house. If you want to be more protected have one infrared sensor device in every room of the house. The ideal location of infrared sensor devices is on the ceiling so that it would have a full three hundred sixty degree look on the room.
If you have a pet on your household, there is now an infrared alarm system that features Pet Immune Motion Sensors. These highly advance systems will not set off even if your pet roams around the house. The infrared sensor devices of these systems will memorize the weight of your pets weight.
Having a well designed infrared system is a good way of protecting your house or establishment.
